Production

A substantial part of production on Metso Foundries Jyväskylä is supplied to industries outside the Metso Corporation. The Metso’s Jyväskylä Foundry employs approx. 275 persons and the production capacity is around 25.000 tons a year. The high-quality iron grades produced are grey iron and nodular iron.

The production is divided into two manufacturing lines::

Hand moulded castingsweight range 500-100.000 kg
Roll and cylinder castingsin length over 12 m, Ø 2 m

Two production processes: one specializing in demanding heavy weight castings up to 100 ton, the other cylinder and roll shells over 12 m in length, Ø2 m and 100 ton in weight. Batch sizes vary between one to hundreds per year. Both grey and nodular iron qualities are applied and in most cases the castings are delivered with certificates of classification authorities.

Typical castings: dryer cylinders, rolls, axles, cylinder blocks, hubs, frames, planet carriers, gearboxes and flywheels.

The latest information technology is incorporated to assist engineering, production and management in the Metso’s Foundries. The computerized casting design and iron simulation tools assure improved product quality and shorter lead times. When these simulation results are combined with NC-pattern making, full potential of modern CAE tools can be made use of.

Pulp, board and paper industry

The nature of this industry and its resulting intense demands concerning casting quality has influenced our attention to quality. Pulp, board and paper mills have very demanding operating environments that accelerate ageing. In addition, many of the components are quite massive.

Power plant and marine industry

Reliability of diesel engines in their respective applications means that their construction has to be sound. Established deliveries of these components have been achieved through good and reliable castings that fully conform to the exacting quality standards that have been set.
Wind turbines

Energy requirement changes have meant that wind power is an ever increasing solution for natural power creation however the construction of wind turbines must be achieved to extremely high standards.

Naturally, our long established history in supplying high quality components has made us a natural reliable partner in delivering such castings.

Other industries

Heavy machinery by its nature requires solid, durable and totally reliable components.
This means that casting properties must fully conform to high quality standards.

Metso Foundries as a supplier of such castings means that you receive products that will endure the heavy duty use of your machinery. Our endurance in such deliveries is our commitment and our history.
